De canadese beeldhouwer MIke Piche woont en werkt sinds 1975 afwisselend in Amsterdam en Holten. Het vrouwelijk naakt, de sensualiteit van het lichaam is een terugkerend thema in mijn werk. De vrouwen , meestal op zichzelf staand , intiem vormgegeven staan als krachtige figuren in de ruimte. Intimiteit , tederheid en verbondenheid keren steeds terug in mijn werk. Ik benader het beeld vanuit de abstracte vormen. Tijdens het ontstaan worden die abstracties uitgewerkt in een figuratief beeld. Het is een constant balanceren met volumes.

The canadian sculptor Mike Piche has been living and working in Amsterdam and Holten since 1975. An ever-recurring subject in my werk is the female nude and the sensuality of the body. The ladies are intimately shaped as powerful figures in space. Intimacy, tenderness and solidarity keep returning in my sculptures. I approach a sculpture starting from abstract shapes. During the process of creation these abstractions are worked out in a figurative sculpture. It is a constant balance of volumes.
